S.HENRY
Garment Care
Flame-resistant performance is inherent to the fibres in S.HENRY garments — it is not a coating, and it does not wash out. Care still matters, because the wrong products and the wrong repairs can compromise the garment.
Washing
- Follow the care label sewn into each garment — it takes precedence over this page.
- Wash hi-vis separately from heavily soiled workwear. Dirt and oil reduce the reflective and fluorescent performance of high-visibility garments.
- Do not use bleach, chlorine or any bleach-based detergent.
- Do not use fabric softener. It coats the fibres and can carry a flammable residue.
- Do not dry clean unless the care label says otherwise.
Repairs and alterations
- Repairs must be made with FR thread and FR fabric of the same specification. Standard thread introduces a non-FR element and can invalidate the garment's compliance.
- Do not add non-FR badges, tapes or embroidery backing.
When to retire a garment
- Reflective tape that is cracked, lifting or no longer returning light.
- Fluorescent fabric that has faded significantly.
- Holes, tears, thinning fabric, or contamination with oil or fuel that will not wash out.
- Any garment that has been exposed to an arc flash or fire.
